Take
an Assessment
A screening is an exam intended to tell you whether you should
seek diagnostic testing. These are quick, easy ways to offer yourself
peace of mind and have the ability to learn about certain conditions
before they progress too far.
The Women’s Health Center offers the following screenings:
- Mammogram—this image of your breasts may show
abnormalities in the breast tissue. If abnormalities are detected,
we will refer you to a radiologist to do further imaging and
determine if there is anything to be concerned about. (Mammograms
are available only on the Women’s Health Coach.)
- Bone mineral density—this helps you know whether
your bones are still healthy and strong or whether you should
ask your physician for a bone scan to check for possible osteoporosis.
- Cardiac health risk assessment—looking at your
family health history, current health indicators and blood make-up
will help you know whether you are at a high risk for cardiovascular
disease. See Heart-to-Heart.
- Mammogram and bone mineral density screenings are also available
on the Women’s Health Center Coach. For details about this
traveling service, see the Women’s Health Coach.
