Sacred Heart’s Maternity Clinic provides outpatient care
to pregnant women throughout their pregnancy. Expert, professional
care is offered to all, regardless of your ability to pay. The
Maternity Clinic is staffed by physicians, registered nurses with
obstetrical background, a social worker and a registered dietitian.
Many women benefit from the following services:
Nursing Visits
Registered nurses provide personalized care, education
and ongoing support. Individualized care is available to you
throughout your
pregnancy.
Registered nurse home visits
A public health nurse, a valuable
resource for education and support, is available to visit you
in your home during pregnancy and after
the birth of your baby.
Nutritional consultation
A registered dietitian can help you plan
a healthy diet for you and your baby. Since you are “eating
for two,” it’s
important that your diet is well-balanced with consideration
of your lifestyle, preferences and budget. A dietitian can also
address concerns about morning sickness and weight gain.
Social service support
Our social worker can assist you with finding resources for items
such as housing, transportation and baby supplies. Personal counseling
is also available to address issues including substance abuse,
adoption choices and domestic violence.
Lactation consultant
Specially-trained registered nurses are available
to help you with any breastfeeding questions or concerns you
may have about you
and your baby.
Childbirth education
Classes cover such topics as caring for yourself,
getting ready for labor and delivery and preparing for your baby.
