The
Parent Project
HOW
DOES IT WORK?
The
Parent Project:
- empowers
parents, reduces family conflict and improves the parent-child
relationship
- intervenes
in adolescent drug abuse, improves school performance, reduces
gang and other poor peer associations
- brings
lasting, positive behavioral changes.
- What
do parents learn?
- What
things children and youth equate with love
- Trust
is earned
- Parents
control things, not children!
During
the first six weeks, parents meet together once a week for three
hours to problem solve and learn how to approach problems with their
children. The focus during the last six weeks is on using the skills
learned in the previous weeks and convening to discuss what works
and what doesn't.
