Faith
& Healing
The
Center
Nestled
within the beautiful grounds of a garden, the Providence Center
is located at the Sisters' former convent in the center of Sacred
Heart's campus. In 1999, renovation of both the building and the
grounds drew upon the spiritual wholeness which the Sisters made
present.
An
inviting environment of peace welcomes visitors as they enter the
Center. The surroundings are calm and spiritual in design.
Areas
conducive to prayer and meditation, private conferences, individual
and group education as well as a convenient, quiet retreat from
the clinical atmosphere of the Medical Center are offered here.
The outdoor garden space reflects the same qualities. While the
Center has a Christian heritage, it welcomes persons of other faiths.
Providence
Center brings service, support and education to patients, their
families and the people of the Inland Northwest. Resources for study
and research are available through a multi-media library. Reading
rooms and resource materials on a wide variety of faith-based healthcare
subjects such as faith, meditation, prayer, touch, support of the
dying, grief and creative expression are offered. On-site staff
supports the needs of visitors and orients them to the surroundings
as well as resources and referral services.
Seminars,
workshops and conferences on the topic of faith and its role in
healing are facilitated by the Providence Center. It is a regional
hub for studying faith and health and providing faith-based perspectives
on healthcare ethics.
