The
Emergency Department 509/474-3344 provides full-service emergency
care to over 40,000 patients a year. As a Level II Trauma Center
(jointly designated with Deaconess Medical Center), Sacred Heart's
services are coordinated by an on-staff trauma surgeon.
Upon
arrival, you will be evaluated by a registered nurse, and taken
into the emergency department as quickly as possible.
In
the treatment area you will be seen by a physician who may order
laboratory and x-ray tests. As with any medical visit, you may experience
a short wait while tests are being evaluated or when staff members
need to respond to more critically ill patients.
Once
test results are received, your doctor will advise you about the
best course of treatment and may contact your personal physician
for follow-up care.
Donations
to Sacred Heart make a difference in so many lives. There is a growing
number of people in need whose financial resources are often strained.
As well, there is an ever increasing need to meet the challenges
of insurance reimbursements and government subsidies such as Medicare
that no longer cover the cost of providing care and the rising costs
of equipment, salaries and supplies. For those reasons and many
more, donor generosity becomes critical as Sacred Heart continues
to meet the growing needs of the community, and improvements in
technology so that excellent services are available locally to all
those needing care.
A
charitable gift to Sacred Heart Medical Center is a wise investment
in healthcare for your community and is a powerful tool for healing.
