Cardiac
Services
Advanced Care Unit
The
Advanced Care Unit for cardiac patients is located on the 6th floor
of Sacred Heart Medical Center and is divided into two sections.
There are a total of 72 beds, used for patients recovering from
heart surgeries, waiting for heart (or heart-lung) transplants,
and being treated for a number of complications such as heart attack.
Central
nurses' stations with cardiac monitoring systems ensure that each
patient's condition is watched, around the clock. A staff of registered
nurses, cardiac rehabilitation nurses, technicians and a number
of other specially trained professionals helps patients increase
their activity and tolerance levels, understand procedures and prepare
for care at home.
Special
Services - Working together with the Cardiology Department
and the Transplant and Mechanical Heart Program, the Advanced Care
Unit offers the following services:
